Hikmah School · Faculty & Mentors

Those Who Teach
Shape the Future

The strength of any educational institution does not lie in its buildings, its brochures, or even its curriculum. It lies in its teachers.

At Hikmah, we believe that the teacher is part of the curriculum. What students observe in their teachers — their patience, humility, clarity, fairness, curiosity, and discipline — often teaches more than any textbook.

The Teacher Is Part of the Curriculum

Institutions are ultimately shaped by the people who stand in front of classrooms, guide discussions, listen to students, and model what it means to be thoughtful, disciplined, and humane.

For this reason, Hikmah places great emphasis not only on what is taught, but who teaches and how they teach.

We are not looking only for lecturers. We are looking for educators, mentors, and role models who understand that they are shaping human beings — not just delivering content.

A Community of Scholars,
Educators, and Mentors

Hikmah is not built around a single type of teacher. Our educational model brings together individuals from different backgrounds who collectively contribute to the development of our students.

01
Scholars

Individuals with formal training in Islamic studies, law, theology, Arabic, and the intellectual traditions of Islam. Their role is not only to teach religious content, but to present the intellectual and ethical tradition of Islam in a balanced, thoughtful, and historically informed way.

02
Educators

Teachers trained in modern education systems who understand pedagogy, classroom management, curriculum design, and how children learn at different ages. They ensure that Hikmah's teaching methods are engaging, structured, age-appropriate, and intellectually stimulating.

03
Mentors

Mentors play a very important role at Hikmah, especially for older students. They guide students in matters of discipline, decision-making, career thinking, personal development, and leadership. They help students think about who they want to become, not just what they want to study.

04
Cultural Historians

Individuals who help students understand Ghanaian and African history, traditions, proverbs, social structures, and intellectual heritage. Identity is not built through slogans; it is built through history, stories, language, and cultural understanding.

05
Language Teachers

Arabic language teachers play a key role in helping students access classical texts, understand Qur'anic language, and connect to a broader intellectual and cultural world. Language is not just communication; it is a gateway to civilization and ideas.

06
Life Skills Facilitators

These educators focus on discipline, time management, communication skills, teamwork, leadership, and public speaking — skills essential for success in modern society but often not formally taught in schools.

Tradition and the Modern World

One of the defining characteristics of Hikmah is that we seek balance. Our students live in a modern, globalized world, but they also belong to a deep intellectual, cultural, and spiritual tradition.

For this reason, Hikmah seeks faculty and mentors who are comfortable in both worlds:

  • Individuals who understand Islamic intellectual traditions
  • Individuals who understand modern education and global realities
  • Individuals who value discipline and character
  • Individuals who encourage questions and critical thinking
  • Individuals who are calm, balanced, and intellectually humble
